Blues Virus
My first serious blues band! It all started in 2001 at the then Kolam Ayer Blues Club when I was roped into the band the day before the gig as a replacement. Incidentally, then keyboardist Brian (who later switched to harmonica) contracted chicken pox and couldn't make the gig , which probably explains the "virus" reference in our name. We played the now-defunct Voodoo Shack and that was my debut in the blues scene, after which I was beyond the point of no return.
We did mostly Chicago blues like Junior Wells and Muddy Waters, going on to con and bluff our way into all sorts of gigs (they must have thought we were something like a jazz band) at places where you'd never imagine a blues band could play.

The gig videos below are from 2004 at Raffles Place MRT and you can see that I've always had questionable fashion sense and un-hip haircuts. In case you're wondering why there's so much of my ugly mug in it, it's because the guy taking the video (Thanks Stephen) was looking to distribute a line of custom-built guitars, so he had me play one for this gig for videographic evidence. The line-up was:
"Li'l" Lloyd - Vocals and Chief Clown
Greg Leow - Guitar
Me - Guitar
Brian Lim - Harmonica
Louis Lam - Bass
Gopal - Drums

Our drummer passed away in 2010 and left behind many good musical memories. Cheers to Gopal, I'll bet he's laying down the shuffle with Muddy and gang.
