Malted Milk
Currently on hiatus while Anjana seeks intellectual pursuits in greener pastures.
That's me and Anjana. We do a couple of gigs at The Old Brown Shoe every month (check Gigs section) playing mostly blues, a bit of country and some soul tunes. More in the blurb.

Promo blurb
"In July of 2006, an aspiring diva and a guy with a shiny guitar decided to embark on a mission to bring the music they loved to the uninitiated. Part of the plan was to pool their abilities to perform as a duo, bringing the songs of those before them as well as some of their own compositions to their audiences. The other part of the plan was to have fun. Yet another part of it was to score free booze. For the shiny guitar guy at least.
They called themselves A Mess of Blues at first, making themselves heard to the foot-stomping beats and raw sounds of acoustic blues while bringing their audiences over to the Blue Side. Emboldened by their initial endeavors, they made a pilgrimage to the venerable Roomful of Blues, where they honed their chops at the Saturday night blues jams on many occasions. In a brief re-christening ceremony that evening overseen by their elders in the blues scene, they were from that day henceforth known as Malted Milk, in tribute to the Robert Johnson song, the diva’s milk-drinking habits and the shiny guitar guy’s love of drinks brewed or distilled from malt.
Their journey brought them to more venues, playing for different crowds and introducing more people to the blues while discovering some closet blues-aficionados along the way. And it is in this manner that they shall continue, a heady combination of smoky vocals channeling the musical inspirations of the blues greats and in-your-face, slashing slide riffs played on a tarnished (but still shiny) resonator guitar.
As an acoustic blues duo, Malted Milk’s repertoire pays tribute to the masters such as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Howling Wolf while incorporating the current practitioners of the craft like Keb’ Mo, Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt. On top of that, they have claimed some songs outside the blues realm for their own from artistes such as Tracy Chapman, Otis Redding, JJ Cale, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. Expect to hear their own compositions as well, drawing heavily from their blues influences with a modern touch."

These two songs are Anjana's originals with both of us on guitar. The Youtube videos below are from our Esplanade Waterfront gig in Apr 2007.
